These are a few general points which one should consider while setting one's career goals. However, It is not essential that you have to choose your career goals at the very beginning, and stick to them all through your life. There will be changes ahead in situation and circumstances. You may also change your career option as well. The important thing is to understand yourself and your inner qualities when making a decision about your career goals, and then make a tentative plan to achieve them.

For your first interview, it may be enough to know your tentative or immediate goals. Accordingly, you have or acquire the attitude and skills, and search for a job that offers you the opportunity for the growth that you desire. However, your short term goals and objectives should be supportive of your long term goals and objectives in order to lead you to define direction in your career.
For example, many may Aspire for outstanding growth and success in career and in life. For this, one has to be focused on the long-term vision from the very beginning. Long-term vision and goals of life distinguish the successful from the rest. What this implies is, that to achieve one's cherished vision and outstanding success in life, should have a clear direction, tremendous ability, undeterred motivation and high-level commitment, right from the early stages of one's career. This demands a strong personality combined with a clear focus in life and determination.

Setting one's goals and objective require awareness of oneself, which is got through the SWOT analysis ( strength weakness opportunity Threat).
